Schedule: M-F 8am to 5pm

Annual salary starts at $50,000

As a Accountant I, you are under the direction of the Controller, you will be responsible for providing financial information through research and analytics. Handling accounting issues and problems for designated area of focus within the accounting function. You will coordinate accounting matters with other departments assigned to area of focus. What you’ll do:

  • Prepare financial reports that assist leadership and management in making informed business decisions
    • Maintain monthly standard journal entries (i.e. revenue, prepaid, accruals, allocations, etc.)
    • Assist Program Management and Leadership in preparing budgets and in evaluating and analyzing actual results 
    • Prepare forecast based on analysis for management to better understand the activities and trends of the organization without changing the current year budget.
    • Interpret and analyze financial reports, as to operational compliance to budgets and forecast.
    • Reconcile assigned balance sheet and general ledger accounts
    • Perform general accounting functions in compliance with FASB (Financial Accounting Standard Board) 
  • Reconcile bank account statements for designated accounts
  • Maintain financial records of program income activities (art, horticulture, etc.)
  • Prepare and report program grant and contract activity including timely filing with relevant funders.
  • Monitor and report all sales and use tax information timely to relevant tax authorities (reimbursement & payable)
  • Assist with the annual year-end accounting audit process and manage designated financial area of focus during audit
  • Responsible for monitoring, managing, problem solving and improving performance within the accounting process 
  • Develop policies and procedures for financial accountability for areas of responsibility 

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all LIFESPAN safety standards and regulations.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Requirements

What you need:

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Pass criminal record, drug screen and healthcare registry check

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting and Finance

· 0 - 3 Years of experience in business or finance

· Ability to work independently and as a team

· Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
