Brief Job Description:
Youth Peer Support is the support that is provided by a young adult who has experience living with an emotional, social and behavioral diagnosis who helps other youths and young adults who are going through similar challenges. This experience is “Lived experience”
The Youth Peer Support will focus on the following topics while working with the youth in the home and community.
• Use Relevant stories to teach through experience
• Serve as a role model
• Ensure and empower voice and choice during development and implementations of care plans
• Support the youth when attending team meetings and any other meetings where the youth would like extra support
• Assisting the youth is working on self-esteem and self confidence
• Helping the youth understand youth culture
• Help the youth enhance relationships in public and with community partners
Qualifications:
• Be at least 18 years of age and is not older than 24.
• Be receiving or have received services from at least one child serving agency and a state funded service that is related to the youths emotional, social, and behavioral and or substance abuse disability.
• Must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
• Demonstrate experience with leadership and advocacy in the field of behavioral health.
• Complete all trainings, The Family Leadership Academy and the Core Competency Training.
***All 30 hour positions will be enrolled in our company retirement program through the Kentucky Public Pension Authority (KPPA); six percent (6%) of your gross income will be deducted from each check. All LifeSkills Inc. / Pennyroyal Inc. employees who work 30 hours or more a week are required to participate in this program.
The employee contribution rate is set by the State General Assembly. Employee contributions are deposited into member accounts. These contributions to the retirement system are currently tax deferred. Member accounts are kept confidential between the member and the Kentucky Retirement Systems.
