Summary:

Responsible for the daily operation, management, and supervision of all Donation Coordinator (DC) staff. Monitors all DC departmental activities and ensures tissue referral activity is appropriately managed and compliance with all policies/procedures regarding donor screening and authorization are met. Responsible for all departmental activities in the absence of Manager.

 Night Shift Position (7pm - 7am) - $2,500 Sign-on Bonus!

Working conditions are fully supported in a 24/7 call center/office environment, working up to 12 hours on shifts; includes working after business hours, weekends, and holidays. Potential for remote work consistent with the needs of LifeLink, the department, and in accordance with company policy. Special circumstances may require additional hours.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists management in all aspects of running the DC department, functioning as a working supervisor. Provides leadership to DC staff routinely monitoring referral activity and workflows, ensuring policies/procedures are appropriately followed.
  2. Performs all functions and duties of a Donation Coordinator, including screening to determine medical suitability based on established criteria, performs all responsibilities pertaining to the approach process, working empathetically and professionally with grieving families to communicate donation opportunities with the legal NOK, conducts the medical and social history interview, and completes all authorization/donor disclosure processes.
  3. Ensures staff follows policies and procedures for effective professional interactions between staff members and externally with hospital staff, medical examiners/coroners, funeral homes, and potential donor families.
  4. Monitors and facilitates all departmental training activities. Ensures accurate training records and annual competencies are maintained and oversees all internal quality review activities pertaining to tissue donor screening and authorization/donor disclosure.
  5. Works with management to maintain key individual and program performance metrics. Utilizes performance measurements to identify areas of improvement, working with DC Shift Leads to ensure staff consistently meet departmental benchmarks/goals.
  6. Assists management with drafting and maintaining departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  7. Attends and/or facilitates required departmental meetings. Participates in opportunities for ongoing educational and professional development.
  8. Contributes and participates in employee counseling, disciplinary action, and performance reviews.
  9. Responsible for arranging or providing coverage as needed, in addition to working regularly scheduled shifts. Provides input for coordination of the departmental schedule.

Requirements:

  1. Work requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role with a demonstrated ability to mentor/coach/counsel staff and lead training objectives.
  2. Medical related degree/certification. Experience in a related tissue banking position or appropriate experience in a medical environment or family/social services field preferred.
  3. AATB Certified Tissue Bank Specialist preferred.
  4. Ability to handle a work schedule that requires response to emergency coverage.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels. Demonstrates above average written and communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and autonomously provide direction to staff, adhering to prescribed protocols, while exercising good judgment in seeking appropriate guidance as required.
  7. Ability to multitask, perform in a high call volume environment and work in a team setting.
  8. Ability to lift up to 25lbs.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are fully supported in a 24/7 call center/office environment, working up to 12 hours on shifts to provide coverage; includes working after business hours, weekends, and holidays. Routine availability during non-business hours to handle calls from staff 24/7. Potential for remote work consistent with the needs of LifeLink, the department, and in accordance with company policy. Special circumstances may require additional hours. Conversation discretion required.
