Job Description
POSITION TITLE:Human Resources Generalist-Trainer
DIVISION:Human Resources
SUPERVISOR:Director of Human Resources
CLASSIFICATION:Non-Exempt
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to support the administrative personnel functions for the agency located on the West side of the state, ensuring that human resource functions operate effectively, appropriately, safely, cost-efficiently, and within the regulations set forth by licensing and funding standards. This role will also lead all training efforts in the region including onboarding and annual trainings for all staff.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • 1. ONSITE SUPPORT FOR HR TEAM
  • Become a resource for local leaders.
  • Help in building a positive work environment and culture for all.
  • Become a resource to the onsite recruiting staff.
  • Assist with interviewing staff and making recommendations to recruiters.
  • Monitor and report staff turnover data and staff satisfaction data.
  • Support recruiting events when needed.
  • Lead Onboarding and training efforts in region.
  • Ensure all new hires complete all required training.
  • Create an engaging environment for new hires during the training and on-boarding process.
  • Communicate with local leadership on new hire training schedules.
  • Lead communication efforts with local leadership to support training efforts for current
  • Drive efforts to ensure all direct support staff are complaint with required training.
  • Take lead on running compliance reports.
  • 2. GENERAL HUMAN RESOURCES FUNCTIONS:
  • Attest to each new hire’s identity and employment eligibility on the I-9 form. Complete E-Verify and resolve issues as they occur.
  • Unemployment Claims, Issues, Documentation, Protests, and hearings for the East counties.
  • Assist the HR department with departmental projects, as needed.
  • Act as backup for general HR functions in the absence of the other staff members.
  • Audit HR files for accuracy in Provide and report Hire/Turnover data monthly.
  • Support delivery of mail, misc. items between agencies' offices.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly meetings as required.
  • Act as an internal customer support to other department managers with any policy and people questions.
  • Work with HR Coordinator to support FMLA/ADA/Leave cases as needed.
  • Support HR Coordinator in the administration of employee benefits for the region.
  • 3. ASSIST WITH EMPLOYEE RELATIONS ISSUES / INITIATIVES:
  • Assist all departments with employee relations issues including preparing responses to allegations of employment misconduct, personnel situations, policy review and other issues as needed.
  • Assist supervisory staff and agency departments with employee relations matters and personnel issues; and in the development/revision of department policies and/or procedures as requested.
  • Assist all departments with all disciplinary matters, including, PIPS, terminations with the HR Director approval.
  • Assist with Non-DOT Drug screens.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
  • Be able to complete all the training required to be a trainer including but not limited to CPR & First Aid, BDS, and NCI.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, clients, family, board members, and outside organizations.
  • Have own transportation to/from meetings and events in and around the entire service area.
  • Must be open to travel for both training purposes and to provide support to other regions as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Display an overall commitment to the agency’s mission, values and vision while maintaining a positive, professional image. Work cooperatively with coworkers and accept other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Exhibit positive customer service skills in all contacts with internal and external customers.
  • Represent departments, as directed, at agency functions and community relations.
  • Serve on special agency committees as requested.
  • Attend/request related training as authorized, including staff meetings.
  • Participate in survey/audit preparation as needed (i.e., CARF, BQIS, etc.).
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s or associate degree preferred. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Any certifications for HR or CPR/First Aid Training are a plus but not required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
