The Operational Excellence Consultant facilitates and supports cross-functional teams to continuously improve and redesign operational processes critical to safe, high quality, efficient, patient and family-centered care by leveraging Lean and Change Leadership methodologies in all aspects of the business. Support performance improvement initiatives across the organization.
Essential Functions:
Performance Improvement: Managing and facilitating hospital wide improvement.
- Facilitates spread of continuous improvement culture throughout organization and drive measurable business process improvement.
- Assists in the creation of metrics to monitor performance, operational improvements and financial benefit.
- Collects and analyzes process data, identifies opportunities, develops solutions, implements improvements and helps operational management ensure sustainability.
- Participates in a/or provides leadership support to multidisciplinary task forces, committees, and councils as appropriate or assigned.
- In collaboration with leadership, sets internal clinical quality targets and helps create strategies to achieve and sustain improvement. Challenges leaders as necessary to develop an action-biased culture of continuous improvement and accountability to improve key metrics including growth, productivity, turnaround time, patient and physician satisfaction, asset utilization and supply chain management.
- Researches, document, and incorporate Lean and Process/Systems "best practices" and standards.
- Coach/mentor colleagues and employees at all levels of the organization in the use of Lean tools and methodologies to ensure timely completion of projects to deliver planned results.
- Maintains proactive approach to resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making.
- Builds internal training materials for Operational Excellence.
- Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field
- 3-5 years experience
- Lean Six Sigma Belt certification
- Microsoft Office Suite; basic computer skills; critical thinking skills
