Life Cycle Engineering is Hiring a Naval Architect Near Washington, DC

Naval Architect
Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for Senior Naval Architects to join the LCE team supporting PMS 300 and 325 in Washington, DC. As a Senior Naval Architect, you will provide support for the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard ships, boats, craft and targets, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) assets. Clearance Required:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies; feasibility studies; preliminary design activities; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment.
  • Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall gt5perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as, the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
  • Provide on-site support at shipbuilder's facilities during detail design, construction, and post-delivery as required
  • Support ongoing ship Detail Design requirements, including the review of shipbuilder's products and deliverables in accordance with Government requirements and the preparation of analyses and recommendations for decisions to the Program Office.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues that include specification requirements for equipment and system certification requirements, flight deck configuration items and interface requirements for critical ship systems
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management
  • Experience and knowledge of Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process)
  • Experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; supervisory; ship building experience
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
