Description
The Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) invites applications for a Program Manager role in support of a city-wide program series, No Prior Art . Part of a broad initiative examining art, science, and invention, No Prior Art: Illustrations of Invention will run from September 14, 2024, through May 11, 2025, with dozens of programs during that period taking place at the Los Angeles Central Library (LAPL) and approximately 20 neighborhood branch libraries throughout the city of Los Angeles. This role will support the full spectrum of project-related public programming and is a temporary position starting now and concluding in May 2025.
About No Prior Art
No Prior Art celebrates human creativity by exploring the process of invention as a key feature in artistic and scientific advances. No Prior Art features the work of artists and inventors, many with ties to Los Angeles, and programs may range from intellectual property workshops for independent inventors, to Rube Goldberg machine-making, to advanced lessons using equipment and resources in the Octavia Lab makerspace, and presentations with a wide range of inventors, artists, and performers. The scale ranges from simple film screenings, to creating program kits that can be loaned out to branch libraries, to helping produce two to three larger festival-type engagements, all resulting in a dynamic series that seeks to engage diverse audiences.
