Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.


Description

Summary:
Responsible for overall management of Commercial Insurance's largest wholesale broker relationships, including improvement in profitability, growth and organizational understanding of broker operations and strategy. Development and coordination of business planning for assigned brokers. Development of broker compensation strategies and negotiation of individual arrangements. Assist the field on critical renewals and new business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for overall profitability and growth of assigned broker relationships.
2. Operates as executive-level liaison and manages a defined number of Global Risk Solution's largest external wholesale business partners.
3. Facilitates the GRS organization’s understanding of its brokers’ operations and strategies
4. Applies consistent framework to analyze and optimize effectiveness of the relationship for each broker house. Develops/updates broker plans on a regular basis including both strategic and tactical actions to grow share and influence with assigned brokers.
5. Facilitates consistent execution of strategic/tactical plans between brokers, the field and home office teams
6. Coordinates/negotiates the design of compensations plans, incentives and other initiatives. Ensures local teams leverage programs to grow relationship through combination of communication, local visibility and transactional support
7. Coordinates local and top-down planning processes, monitors results and develops action plans to drive desired results
8. Coordinates negotiation and internal utilization of brokers tools (e.g., GRIP, Marsh Connect, WillPlace, etc.
9. Leads with executive presence necessary to connect and challenge senior leadership at both Liberty Mutual and assigned brokers.


Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the Company's services, products and marketing techniques; insurance contracts, funding and rating; and management.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance operations including risk service, underwriting, sales and loss prevention operations, as well as marketing, underwriting and financial analysis. Strong analytical and managerial skills.
  • Experience in and in-depth understanding of the Wholesale marketplace

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, lead and get work done through others.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including interviewing, training, presentation, persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years commercial insurance sales, management experience, and in-depth knowledge and understanding of agent and broker operations.
  • Advanced degree such as MBA and CPCU certification preferred.
