Li Cycle Corp is Hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, Hub Near Rochester, NY
A great opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor for the Li-Cycle Hub in Rochester, NY. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor oversees multiple teams of 2-3 mechanical technicians (total 14-16 reports), responsible for all on-site aspects of coordinating, and executing maintenance and repair activities for equipment to minimize downtime, improve reliability, prevent future breakdowns, and reduce operating costs. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor works jointly with other Supervision team members to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the Hub.

Primary Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):
Create a positive, respectful atmosphere among crew, fostering a team environment and open communication
Responsible for the assigned scope of Maintenance work for mechanical technicians on site.
Work closely with maintenance planning and scheduling team to put the maintenance events into action on location
Review job scopes, plans, and schedules with all key members ensuring the correct level of preparedness
Communicate clearly and concisely with their team’s members, planning and scheduling, and operations supervision in a timely manner.
Responsible for leading pre-job coordination meetings with mechanical personnel and Operations supervision going over the scope of activities, safety, roles, and responsibilities, and return to service
Supervise work performed by assigned employees. This includes preventive maintenance inspections, prioritization of all planned and emergency repairs to plant equipment and facilities
Lead the mechanical team to prevent injuries, eliminate hazards, improve housekeeping, and comply with all plant policies. Implements improvement initiatives and corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors. Positively responds to employee safety concerns in a timely manner.
Train employees on safety and process procedures and maintain safety data for crew
Perform proper lock out tag out (LOTO), confined space, permit to work documentation as required
Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe, environmentally compliant, and clean condition
Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior
Ensure team members enter all details correctly in the Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) system for completed work orders with parts, materials, and log entries and any work identified during work execution is documented with new work orders
Properly escalate any found equipment discrepancies to maintenance management
Coordinate with engineers and operating personnel concerning modification of existing equipment
Conduct performance evaluations for crew members

Job Qualifications:
Education and experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical degree preferred
Valid State issued Drivers License
7 year industrial experience
3 years prior supervisory experience required
Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently and within a team environment
Excellent mechanical and electrical abilities
Working knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), programming and troubleshooting skills is a plus
Ability to follow procedures, work instructions and safety/environmental regulations to include:
o Read and understand mechanical blueprints
o Basic knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
o Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, methods, process, and procedures
Skilled in following safety and environmental practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Able to work well under pressure
Strong attention to detail
Working Conditions:
Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday
Working outside regardless of weather conditions
Walking over a large area with multiple ladders to traverse
May encounter Nickel and or Nickel containing products. (Nickel allergies are very common)
Wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for full duration of work-shift: nitrile or other types of gloves, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hard hat or bump cap, and coveralls
Additional PPE may be required occasionally as needed; acid suit, respirator, face shield, etc.
Physical ability to lift 50 lb
