Position/Title: Procurement Specialist
Department: Materials / Supply Chain
Reports to: Materials Manager
Primary Function:
The Sr. Procurement Specialists primary function is to ensure that goods and services are acquired and delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds the requirements of LexTM3’s Production Schedule, job or project. This position is also responsible for building and maintaining Vendor relationships and managing contracts with LexTM3’s suppliers to secure best pricing, delivery and service. Additionally, the Sr. Procurement Specialist is required to assist in the analysis and preparation of contracts/orders by working closely with Sales, Buyers, Material Coordinators and/or Upper Management teams, to meet project requirements. The Sr. Procurement Specialist will also assist the Planners and Production Coordinators in building the Production schedules by contributing to the development and enhancement of the analytics tools created and used in the achievement of departmental objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use analytical tools to support the procurement process, including need/gap analysis, total cost of ownership, cost optimization and more.
  • Pursue opportunities to reduce costs, minimize risk and improve business conditions.
  • Analyzes, identifies, and communicates information regarding purchase orders utilizing approved and non-approved vendors; identifies, researches, and resolves problems relating to purchasing issues.
  • Tracks and develops reports to identify progress of cost saving initiatives and process efficiencies for the organization.
  • Own purchasing metrics to drive positive changes.
  • Review planned Bill of Materials to ensure Purchase Orders ae created to meet commitment requirements.
  • Assists in preparation, analysis, of Requests for Quotes (RFQ) to ensure efficient delivery of products and services.
  • Maintain low Inventory level with increasing inventory turns.
  • Co-Owner of Class L Metrics and Owner of Purchasing requirements for finished good levels.
  • Review, maintain and balance Inventory as per business needs.
  • Run commodity histories and project inventory levels through forecasting and future requirements for specific events and yearly requirements.
  • Participate in physical inventory as required.
  • Responsible for the disposition of non-conforming products from suppliers in accordance with Quality Assurance instructions.
  • Manage vendor/supplier relationships and work with important business leaders on supplier issues.
  • New vendor evaluation and approval, in cooperation with Quality Assurance.
  • Vendor performance tracking, vendor performance reporting, and vendor performance communication, in accordance with LEXTM3 vendor performance evaluation processes.
  • Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders, purchase order adjustments, and invoice review.
  • Track POs through to the receipt processes and manage aging of Purchase Orders on a monthly basis.
  • Negotiate prices for spot buys and for contracts based on the quantities and dollar amounts.
  • Drive adoption of procurement best practices across the organization through branding, training, and written, live and electronic communications.
  • Develops departmental communications; maintains and updates departmental files, and databases; contributes to and supports departmental initiatives.
  • Develops and assists with implementation of processes for efficiency improvements; provides customer service and departmental support.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable department as it relates to purchases and invoicing.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
  • 4 Year degree in business, statistics or accounting is preferable
  • Five or more years in a similar manufacturing purchasing role is required.
  • Proven experience coordinating a variety of complex activities involving associates at all levels in the organization.

Lean manufacturing experience a plus
