Job Title: Catering Lead Worker Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Purpose:

Support catering manager and assistant catering manager in all facets of the successful execution of catering events and operations. Prepare, deliver, set up, serve, and clean up catering events. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or GED
• Food Handlers Certification or ability to complete training

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Excellent cooking, baking, and food presentation skills are a necessity
• Must be well organized in the planning of menu execution, creating prep lists, organization of kitchen, assigning duties to staff and preparing the food
• Introductory understanding of food cost, yields and basic kitchen math is required to ensure food cost stays within prescribed budget guidelines
• Good communication abilities are required to help catering department create menu choices, and to understand terms of catering contracts
• Available to work event-based hours

Experience

• Previous customer service experience preferred
• Previous catering experience preferred
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently with limited supervision

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Preparing quality food and presenting it in an attractive manner as directed by the catering manager and assistant manager
• Transport and deliver catering food and beverage with all vital supplies and equipment
• Set up catering and event service according to client/customer requests and banquet event order
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of food service areas during events
• Provide excellent customer service to all guests
• Follow organized, safe food storage and handling guidelines
• As needed, helps with the creation/execution of standardized and accurate recipes to guarantee conformity for each client
• Must be resourceful and creative to effectively handle problems related to food shortages, food preparation mistakes, last minute requests and extra guests
• Other duties as assigned

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard large and small kitchen equipment and tools including electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, smoker, sharp cutting tools, stove, oven, dishwasher, and food/utility cart
• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoop, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Continual walking; frequent climbing (ladder), grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching
• Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds)
• Environment: Work inside in commercial kitchen environment; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, extreme humidity, noise, vibration, microwaves, biological hazards (bacteria, mold, fungi), chemical hazards (fumes, vapors, gases), electrical hazards; work with hands in water; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
