Lewis Tree Service is Hiring a Director Fleet Near Rochester, NY

The Director - Fleet will oversee the management and optimization of our large and diverse fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strategic leader with strong financial acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and inspire a corporate team as well as regional managers and coordinators. The Director will have full P&L responsibility and will work closely with various departments to achieve company goals.
Must reside in the Rochester, NY area-or be willing to relocate (Relocation assistance may be provided)

  • Salary Range $130K - $170K - to commensurate with experience
What You'll Do...
  • Leverage best in class practices to ensure the fleet is maintained to the highest safety and operational standards.
  • Develop and implement fleet management strategies to ensure operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Develops key standards and processes around maintenance and repair of fleet assets.
  • Develop and manage the fleet budget, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
  • Develops relationships with authorized dealers and vendors to negotiate and secure equipment and vehicles contracts.
  • Develops long range plans to purchase equipment and vehicles for the fleet including preparing and writing specifications for vehicles and equipment.
  • Develops retirement and life-cycle processes that include the disposal of obsolete and surplus vehicles and equipment.
  • Approves requisitions and purchase orders for fleet assets.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of a robust and repeatable preventative maintenance program for the entire fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to fleet operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervise Corporate Fleet Manager and Regional Fleet Managers.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, DOT and tree industry regulations and standards preferred.
-What You'll Need...
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or the combined equivalent of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Background and experience with Utility Service Vehicles is preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with P&L management.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to fleet operations.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment (i.e. computer, phones, scanner, fax and copier).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of fleet management software and technologies.
