The Virtual Build Group at Leopardo is growing and looking for a Senior VDC Coordinator to join the team! The Senior VDC Coordinator is responsible for delivering best in class service to clients through analysis of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems design, evaluating for best value, quality issues and unforeseen complexities. Typically beginning their engagement with the project team during preconstruction, assist in the preparation of MEP scopes of work, scope reviews, and author the project's Building Information Modeling (BIM) Execution Plan. Engagement with the project team continues well into field operations. In some cases, this role is assigned management of the commissioning efforts. In addition, this position will focus on running MEP coordination efforts, day to day, on multiple projects concurrently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Building and MEP systems designs for complexity.
  • Estimate building services costs from an operations and maintenance (O&M) perspective.
  • Review, evaluate constructability of the MEP design.
  • Evaluate early MEP systems designs for compliance with local building codes.
  • Support Project Executive in responding to MEP system related warranty claims.
  • Guide Leopardo thru risks, liabilities related to MEP systems.
  • Anticipate difficulties with MEP design.
  • Participate in pursuits, proposals as MEP systems expert.
  • Provide direction, and some instances, writing of MEP scopes of work.
  • Identify, monitor, and some instances, execute gap modeling required for effective systems coordination.
  • Assist Project Managers by writing MEP bid packages and participating in pre-award meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance for MEP issues discovered in the field.
  • Maintain relationships with building services subcontractors, vendors, Cx agents, architects, and engineers (A/E.)
  • Lead projects through Systems coordination using all techniques appropriate for the situation, both 2D, 3D.
  • Prepare coordination team with collision avoidance guidance.
  • Analyze models submitted by subcontractors and others with 3D Clash Detection tools, such as Navisworks.
  • Identify and document building system coordination issues between trades.
  • Prepare, distribute, track signoffs & published 3D design files (such as NWDs).
  • Review shops before distribution to final approvers.
  • Analyze as-built reality capture against drawings, signoff model.
  • Execute on tactics from approved quality management plans.
  • Inspect field installation, work in progress, against drawings, signoff model.
  • Address deficiencies, whether in the model or the field, with respective parties and follow up.
  • Provide recommendations on relevant technology solutions.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Required Bachelor's degree (architecture, mechanical, electrical, civil, or industrial engineering; or construction management).
  • 5 years experience as a VDC or MEP Coordinator; industry experience including field and estimating knowledge a plus.
  • Professional understanding and knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), schedule, cost, safety, and quality.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge (e.g., MS Office Suite, Navisworks, PlanGrid, Revit).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license is required.
