Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Responsible for directing a team that manages the product development strategy of one or more complex or high impact products.

General Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the strategy of a group of products.
• Responsible for supporting the life cycle of one or more products.
• Analyzes sales information, projections, and other relevant data and prepares forecasts on market evolution.
• Identifies key product challenges and opportunities; makes appropriate recommendations for future planning.
• Drives efficiencies throughout the business to improve product margins and to enhance processes.
• Conducts comparative analysis against competitors and provides strategic planning of product direction and features.
• Evaluates industry trends and consumer research to meet customer needs.
• Develops product plans to maximize profitability and share.
• Leads development team efforts for all aspects of the product line

Specific Role Responsibilities:

• Product Specification Champion
  • Responsible for the product platform vision, mission, strategy and lifecycle management.
  • Responsible for setting the product platform value within the portfolio and the business strategy
  • Responsible for setting the product specification

• New Product Development Direction Responsibilities
  • Vitality of the portfolio…lifecycle management of the product platforms…strategic planning
    • Identify end of life for SKUs or product lines
    • Continuous scan of external environment for
      • Changes in competitive actions
      • Changes in regulations
      • Changes in home owner economics
      • Changes in supply chain economics – freight, commodities, etc
      • Changes in technologies
    • Technology development
    • Strategic Planning and Road mapping
  • Program leader for the New Product Development Stage Gate Process for product changes
  • Defines product requirements (the “what”)
  • Develops business case

• Portfolio Management Responsibilities
  • Value-Analysis of existing products
  • Platform Lifecycle Management
  • Contributes to the assessment of field quality issues to understand impacts on product brand equity

• Primary Resource on Product Direction for the following functions
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, World Wide Supply Chain

• The Product Manager will be responsible for driving the product’s technical platform strategy and vision. This is a long term (3 to 7 year) strategy planning horizon that evaluates regulatory, technology and long term market trends for technology platform lifecycle management (assortment of technologies the segment will offer).

The Compensation range for this position is approximately $106,400 - $139,650 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

• Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering or technical degree preferred.
• Requires at least 5 years related experience.
• Requires at least 1 years’ experience as a manager or team leader.
• MBA or advanced degree a plus
