Job Summary:

The primary responsibility is to ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the residents, volunteers, and staff during bus transportation to and from outings.  

Essential Functions of the Job:
• Transport residents to activities, errands, and other off-campus destinations
• Completes pre and post trip inspection of bus identifying potential problems, verifying safety and reports faulty equipment; maintains trip logs.
• Completes incident reports as required
• Promotes passenger comfort ensuring needs are met; addresses any questions re details of excursion
• Monitors conditions surrounding bus to ensure safety of passengers on the bus and when exiting.
• Operate various buses in our fleet to include wheelchair lift buses and motorized scooters
• Coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance; maintains maintenance log
• Operate safely at ALL times and meet (DOT) requirements.
• Help with loading and unloading of groceries, walkers and wheelchairs as needed
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:
• High School diploma or GED
• Current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no major violations
• Department of Motor Vehicles Passenger Endorsement
• Five (5) years of experience driving a bus; Senior living experience preferred
• ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) trained
• Experience working with special needs population
• Experience with commercial wheelchair lifts and restraint systems for busses
• Must be able to pass background and drug screen

Skills and Aptitude Required:
• Ability to pre-plan bus friendly routes: from point of departure to destination and return
• Experienced with navigating traffic patterns in the Atlanta area 
• Flexibility with schedule - availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts 
• Must enjoy working with the elder population
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely via telephone and text
• Age 18 or older
• General mechanical aptitude
• Punctual
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Maintain positive and respectful attitude
• Must have dependable transportation
• Excellent critical thinking and logic skills
• Professional appearance
• Valid CDL, current and satisfactory DOT physical, and clean MVR
