Responsibilities
Complete oversight of electric work orders and all aspects of field management and administration. An entrepreneurial role that requires self-motivation, direction and accountability whether working alone or with a crew. This includes the planning, coordination and lay out of the work ensuring that materials, tools, equipment and information are in the proper places at the proper time to meet or exceed production rates. Often, this is our customers only interaction with LEI and therefore it is required that he/she completely embrace and demonstrate high standards in all aspects of their work and attitude always.
The Service Technician has the ultimate responsibility of safety on the project and ensures adherence and compliance to the LEI Health and Safety Manual, all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards and any project specific requirements. Additionally, the Service Technician will be required to operate a company vehicle. A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), as determined by the insurance provider or LEI management, is a requirement of the position and he/she will operate the vehicle in an appropriate manner and follow all rules and laws.
This is a leadership role requiring the ongoing analysis and improvement of existing business processes and procedures; always looking for opportunities to improve the system, generate efficiencies, capture savings or implement new solutions. You will be required to interact and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, it is expected that this is done cooperatively, with good faith, and in alignment with the LEI core values. Leaders are expected to step in and help solve problems in any department, with any individual, always eager to train, mentor or coach others as well as pursue individual growth and development.
Key Accountabilities
- Ability to start, manage and complete work orders at or above expected gross margin targets
- Ability to perform high quality, code compliant installs that save labor and satisfy customers
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and communication, be the problem solvers
- Ability to identify needs, suggest improvements and enhance future sales with customers
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple work orders up to $50k and associated paperwork
- Commitment to train, educate and develop other employees
- Independence and ability to accomplish job responsibilities with minimal oversight
- Adherence to established LEI policies, procedures and processes
- Interaction, cooperation and leadership with others, consistent with LEI values

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned to Meet Business Needs):
- Review, interpret and analyze documents to develop plans to execute work efficiently
- Develop an understanding of our scope and budget with Service Manager prior to starting work
- Troubleshoot, investigate and problem solve to enhance efficiency
- Identify and initiate all BIM and prefabrication requirements and opportunities
- Establish all installation means and methods, adhering to the specifications and budget
- Seek and identify sales opportunities by developing strong client relationships based on trust
- Maintain a high degree of respect when dealing with customers to develop a lasting partnership
- Ability to create quick and accurate material takeoffs and estimate hours needed for tasks
- Oversee completely and be responsible for self and crew productivity, quality and workmanship
- Make decisions and judgement calls in the field and be accountable for those decisions
- Willingness to train apprentices and future Service Technicians
- Ensure that all installations comply with the NEC and local AHJ requirements
- Comply at all times with NFPA 70E and ensure all “Hot Work” is properly approved/permitted
- Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders (i.e. vendors/subs/owners)
- Receive and check all material against Buy Outs, Material Requisitions and Purchase Orders
- Handle damaged, missing or backordered items in accordance with established procedures
- Establish and maintain safeguards to prevent damage, theft or loss of material and equipment
- Create RFI’s for any areas of concern, trade coordination, design discrepancies or conflicts
- Monitor and incorporate all approved change orders into the material and work plan
- Inform Service Manager immediately of extra work required outside of our contracted scope
- Identify and seek opportunities to upsell or increase contracted scope when executing work
- Coordinate, plan and document all required testing in accordance with contract documents
- Update facility As-Built drawings as needed
- Develop aggressive schedules and perform tasks with urgency, avoid being reactionary
- Maintain a clean, orderly and neat appearance at the worksite representing LEI positively
- Maintain daily communication with service department staff to confirm schedules, obtain work order numbers, process material orders, maintain paperwork and convey challenges
- Enforce LEI policies, procedures and standards
- Promote positive attitudes and high morale on the jobsite with alignment to the LEI values
- Fill out all safety and injury reports in a timely manner
- Have the ability to work flexible hours, shifts, locations and be on-call with reasonable notice
- Ability to work the emergency on-call rotation and respond to calls and emails at all times
- Maintain the service vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion at all times and track inventory
Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
- Managerial, leadership and organizational skills are essential
- Customer service and communication skills with ability to develop new relationships
- Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve with urgency
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in electrical work
- Preferably two (2) years as a journeyman and two (2) years in a service van
- Strong knowledge of the construction industry and electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of lighting systems and associated designs
- Knowledge of common construction tools and their usage
- Ability to be punctual, self-motivating and follow through
- Ability to adjust quickly and positively to changing conditions and strategies
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow plans and specifications
- Valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician License (reciprocated with other States as needed)
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and approved motor vehicle record
- Maintain approved motor vehicle record and exhibit good driving behavior
- Must abide by company uniform and dress code policy

- Required to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
- Lifting fifty-one (51) to one hundred and fifty (150) pounds with help is required
- Work eight (8) to ten (10) hours, six days a week on your feet in all elements of weather
- Make transition from parking areas into construction work areas and gain access to all work areas by means of OSHA approved construction ladders or stairs
