Legal Ease LLC is Hiring an Associate Attorney Near South Portland, ME

Associate Attorney Job Description:

Legal-Ease, LLC, a dynamic and bustling general practice law firm in South Portland, Maine, seeks an attorney to work on a variety of legal matters. An associate attorney will work with the Managing attorney of each practice area to support legal work of each practice. This is a general practice position and will involve both transactional work and litigation work. Transactional work involves real estate work, document drafting, probate proceedings and estate work. Litigation includes, but is not limited to, civil litigation, family law, criminal defense, employment law, and more.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

· Involvement in all areas of litigation practice including, case development, drafting pleadings and motions, depositions and discovery, document management and trial work.

· Case development, such as reviewing background materials, and interviewing witnesses.

· Draft Maine Human Rights Commission Complaints.

· Draft Court Complaints.

· Legal research and analysis.

· Brief drafting for summary judgment practice.

· Draft discovery and respond to discovery including organizing document production.

· Deposition preparation and participation.

· Trial work.

· Appellate work.

· Coverage of Court hearings, including but not limited to, status conferences, dispositional conferences, PFA/PFH hearings, damages hearings, etc.

· Drafting employment contracts, construction contracts and other contracts.

Qualifications and Skills:

· Must be a member of the Maine Bar.

· 1-2 years in litigation practice preferred.

· Ability to work independently.

· Ability to manage cases and meet deadlines.

· Computer skills, including Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Gmail.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
