LEGAL AID OF WESTERN MISSOURI

PARALEGAL – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNIT

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

The Economic Development Unit of Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time litigation support paralegal in one of its satellite offices in Kansas City, Missouri. This position supports one project attorney who litigates on behalf of a neighborhood association and community development corporation on targeted community improvement initiatives. General responsibilities include community outreach; conducting interviews with clients; assisting with ongoing client communication; drafting advice letters, court pleadings, and other legal documents; gathering and analyzing information and records from third-parties to present to the project attorney; and assisting with file maintenance and other administrative duties. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

The qualified candidate must have the following:

Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree or certificate program in paralegal studies
Excellent oral and written communication skill, including knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices
General computer skills and competency using Microsoft Word and Excel
Some local travel is required, so you must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
Fluency in Spanish is encouraged, but not required

Salary $21.79/hour DOE
