Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty, a leading Maine real estate brokerage, is seeking a motivated individual to join our real estate brokerage team as an Accounting Associate. Responsibilities include detailed real estate transaction accounting, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. This role requires that the candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to leverage technology and various software systems to manage and enhance financial processes. Working under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Associate will collaborate across departments, communicate with various stakeholders, and adapt to the evolving priorities of the brokerage. A candidate with experience in accounting/bookkeeping and QuickBooks or similar accounting software is greatly preferred.

Responsibilities include:

• Work extensively with accounting, banking and transaction management software to support brokerage financial operations
• Conduct real estate transaction accounting including record keeping of funds, processing of transactions and payment of closings
• Manage accounts payable process including timely and accurate invoice processing, vendor management and annual 1099 preparation
• Prepare accurate invoices and maintain comprehensive and up-to-date accounts receivable records
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts to maintain accuracy in financial records
• Leverage technology to continuously improve processes and streamline financial operations. Proficiency with Excel to organize and analyze large data sets required
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and brokerage reporting metrics
• Communicate professionally with business stakeholders, including agents, staff, clients and vendors
• Collaborate across offices and functions and work as a member of a team
• Assist with ad hoc projects and administrative tasks
• Maintain organized financial documentation for audits and reviews
• Flexibility and the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience in accounting or a related field, preferably within a real estate brokerage
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple accounting and banking software systems
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
