Job Class: Non-Exempt / Reports To: Front Office Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bell/Valet Attendant is responsible for being present at the hotel entrance and providing professional and courteous service to each and every guest. They will be responsible for exceeding guest expectations through positive, interactive skills by assisting with guest luggage, operating, and parking guests' vehicles, showing guests to their rooms, and acting as a concierge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: NOTE: Legacy Development & Management may unilaterally may change the requirements of this job description at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • In a timely manner, greet and provide parking assistance to all arriving and departing guests
  • Be present at the hotel entrance and be ready to assist guests, visitors, and colleagues when requested.
  • Responsible for operating and parking guests' cars safely. Opens car doors for guests as well as any hotel door.
  • Builds rapport with our guests while providing service in order to better understand our guests and their Learn your guests' names and address them by name whenever possible. This will make Legacy Development & Management a special place for them.
  • Remains posted while not assisting guests or doing side work.
  • Maintains awareness of guest experience at all times, smiles and makes eye contact, and communicates professionally.
  • Reports issues and/or potential problems to immediate supervisor.
  • Relieve guests of their luggage, responsible for escorting/delivering luggage up to the guest room.
  • Ensures Legacy Development & Management standards of cleanliness and appearance for all areas.
  • Familiarize guests with their room, amenities, hotel features, events, and restaurants. Understands and is well versed in the property, hotel features, and services including all outlets, hours of operations, activities, and events available to guess.
  • Delivers messages, packages, room service orders, and runs errands for guests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Knows and adheres to company and department policies and procedures, embraces company and department culture, and takes pride in the hotel and amenities.
  • Attends required training classes and incorporates new standards, services knowledge, and safety into daily work practices.
  • Follow the procedures for responsible service of alcohol. Should a guest seem in a state you do not feel they should drive, we will summon a taxi. Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary. Looks for opportunities to assist peers, guests, other departments, or leaders at all times. Solution-oriented, stays on task, and promotes teamwork.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Requires the ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Must be Alcohol Certified in the state of New Mexico or be able to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess outstanding customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work efficiently within a team environment
  • Candidates should be knowledgeable about the Albuquerque area and attractions.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays with overtime based on business demands.
  • Must be able to communicate in English with guests, management, and other employees to their understanding. Additional language skills a plus.
  • Must possess excellent communications skills
  • Willingness to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding guests and staff.
  • Ability to do extensive jogging, walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license, vehicle insurance, good driving record, and reliable vehicle.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous Bell or Valet experience in a hospitality environment

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk or listen.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; jog, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • This position requires frequent manual dexterity in combination with eye/hand coordination such as handling of equipment.
  • Will have repetitive hand motions and prolonged periods of standing.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must frequently lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Must be able to push up to 100lbs of force frequently.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift, and/or alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for entire shift.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to high.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, and mild chemical exposure.
  • Must be able to drive on and off for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to travel (10%) within the metropolitan area as needed
