This is a great opportunity for a candidate to develop their accounting & tax knowledge across complex and diverse transactions while having direct impact on the organization.

The Target Candidate is skilled in accounting and working with accounting database systems. She/he will also have the knowledge, or a desire to develop knowledge, in real estate accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform GAAP to Tax account analysis and book corresponding journal entries
  • Prepare Tax Trial Balances for outside accounting firms to prepare Tax returns
  • Maintain GL accounts & prepare journal entries for accruals & variances, ensure properly accounted transactions, analysis & reporting of variances & functions
  • Assist in maintenance of fixed asset database and work papers for GAAP and Tax (i.e. setting up assets into sub-ledger, recording depreciation expense to GL, oversee annual surveys, generation of managerial report for annual budget process, ascertain Tax deductibility in conformity with final repair regulations, work with outside consultant on Cost Segregation studies)
  • Identify data problems and devise solutions, including new report design and implementation
  • Reconcile equity accounts; current year activity and balances
  • Reconcile investment accounts
  • Assist various departments in accounting issues & queries
  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including but not limited to booking Tax adjusting journal entries related to accruals, straight line rent receivables, allowance for bad debt, unearned rent, prepaid expenses and meals & entertainment nondeductible expenses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience (small to mid-size public accounting experience a plus) 
  • General ledger accounting experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Strong PC skills, including word and advanced excel knowledge (including vlookup, pivot tables)
  • Yardi knowledge & real estate industry experience are all a plus
