Lee County Government is Hiring a Fleet Mechanic (Technician II) Near Fort Myers, FL
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair in accordance with the standard market repair times/values for gasoline and diesel engines, brakes, drive train, suspension and steering, including electrical and electronic systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and hydraulic systems.
- Perform complete preventive maintenance including, lube and oil changes, brakes, tune-up, electrical systems, cooling systems and drive trains.
- Processes work orders, prioritizes repairs, and monitors and scheduled workload.
- Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and two years experience in mechanical repairs on light-duty trucks and equipment, heavy-duty trucks or heavy equipment. (i.e., maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles, performing in-depth mechanical repairs to light or heavy vehicles).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are preferred.
- Experience in utilizing diagnostic software programs and equipment preferred.
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, practices and methods used to repair and replace gas and diesel engines.
- Ability to assist in the training and guidance of entry-level technicians.
- The work hours and days for this position are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
