Cost Accountant
Our manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant! This full-time, direct-hire role is based in Dover, NH, with travel to the company’s facilities in IL, NY, and PA. If you’d like to join the team at a desirable employer, then don’t hesitate to apply!
Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant
- Oversee and analyze all cost expenditures related to manufacturing processes
- Manage and maintain cost accounting system
- Lead the development of annual plan and financial reporting processes and formats
- Produce detailed cost reports and analyses in support of operations and sales
- Review cost and variance trends, research significant variations, and recommend solutions
- Review new BOMs for accuracy
- Establish labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets
- Work with the General Managers to understand current reporting metrics, develop improved reports, and fully understand inventory transactions as relates to the general ledger
- Work with Pricing Manager to analyze, discuss, and suggest adequate pricing based on operational costs within the facility
- Suggest process improvement projects to increase efficiencies
- Assist in implementing new MRP software
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as required
Qualifications of the Cost Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3 years of progressive experience within accounting/finance with specialty in manufacturing cost accounting
- Proven record in assisting operational leadership with understanding and improving processes to support bottom line results
- Computer proficiency, especially MS Excel
- Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
