The role:

The Assistant Director will ensure the smooth operation of the Center. They will always ensure that standards as set forth for children and teacher/group size ratios are maintained in accordance with child-care licensing regulations. The Assistant Director’s role includes but are not limited to staff supervision; health and safety program maintenance; parent-teacher involvement; community and public relations; supply and petty cash management; center policies/procedures and record administration.

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Ensure a safe, happy, stimulating, and safe environment for children. 
  • Manage and coordinate curriculars with staff that complies with state and federal requirements. 
  • Ensure that center facilities are safe for children and comply with laws and regulations. 
  • Evaluate and assist in purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Supervise, support teaching staff, and promote their professional development. 
  • Support interviewing, hiring, and training new staff members, ensuring they meet all policies and legal requirements. 
  • Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures. 
  • Communicate and meet with parents regarding their children and the center’s policies. 
  • Support budgeting and accounting and ensure that the center remains profitable. 
  • Develop and facilitate marketing and communications plans created by the director/schools.
  • Develop community partnerships.
  • Assists in the full recruitment cycle based upon center needs, including planning and scheduling interviews. 
  • Supports talent acquisition duties as necessary for their center (includes supporting employer branding initiatives, attending job fairs /recruitment events, supporting candidate experience). 
  • Assists in new hire onboarding and candidate support as needed.
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the class rooms and common areas - trash removal and disposal from the classrooms and kitchens as necessary
  • Other duties as requested

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • 21 years of age w/ High School Diploma or GED
  • 72 clock hours of training in Child Development and 30 clock hours in management
  • 2-5 years of experience in a licensed childcare facility
  • Must complete/pass criminal background check
  • Food Handler Card required or willing to obtain
  • CPR and First Aid certification

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Familiarity with and strict adherence to Childcare licensing standards and regulations
  • Ability to assume all responsibilities attributable to a Lead Teacher for any classroom as needed
  • Demonstrated understanding of and love for young children and enthusiasm for developing a happy, creative atmosphere for the children

The preferred candidate will:

  • Have a passion for working with children and making a difference in their lives!
  • Be a team-player who can manage a learning environment and can create fun activities/lessons that develop children.
  • Will be organized and able to prepare activities based off of children's ideas and interests, has worked with children and who can manage conflict.
  • Be someone who is invested in the personal growth and development of children.
  • Be empathetic and motivational individual that can keep up with the children.

Additional Notes

  • Be able to bend, walk, sit on the floor and lift a minimum of 35 pounds
