Pay Range
$137,640 - $170,904 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We're looking for a Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Operations Team Lead. You will provide highly advanced technical and administrative direction and be responsible for site-wide LOTO operations and execution. This position is in the Infrastructure and Operations Directorate and may support other LLNL organizations. This position may require working at Site 300 in Tracy, California.
You will
Complete initial and recurring Facility Energy Owner training requirements to achieve and maintain “qualified worker” status and maintain a balance of core functional skills to include facilities management, electrical skills, mechanical skills, work planning and control skills, and other skills deemed vital to performance of a defined scope of work.
Provide highly advanced technical and administrative oversight and coordination of daily work of a LOTO Facility Energy Owner team engaged in the development, approval, installation, validation, and removal of LOTO to all possible equipment and systems configurations; provide status of program goals and productivity metrics in LOTO operations execution to the LOTO Program management in order to make appropriate adjustments.
Independently create, review, and approve LOTO plans and design drawings for equipment.
Provide technical direction and coordination in the procurement, installation, modification, and repair of team equipment, materials, and supplies to meet LOTO objectives.
Provide technical expertise in LOTO Operations specific disciplines (e.g., engineering, ES&H, facilities, construction, maintenance, and applied sciences) and perform advanced technical work applicable to LOTO.
Collaborate with LOTO Program management to interpret and apply LLNL policies and procedures pertaining to performance management, including but not limited to; constructive and timely feedback to employees, training and personnel actions including hiring and documentation.
Serve as the team’s point of contact to provide information and collect LOTO questions for resolution by LOTO management, and between the management team and workers, participate and support in LOTO Operations program management decision-making and goal setting.
Ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with Federal, State, and LLNL Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) requirements and policies; report and provide corrective actions to observed hazards, potential hazards, or areas of concern to supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate technology or an equivalent combination of education and extensive related experience in facilities equipment or construction trades and ability to obtain Facilities Management certification.
Experience leading teams on technical efforts; ability to adjust work activities to meet changing requirements as well as motivate, train, develop and provide guidance with an emphasis on teamwork.
Advanced technical, administrative, and operational skills and experience including independent and collaborative decision making, workload scheduling, workforce utilization, tracking projects, design review, implementation of policies and procedures, and providing input to employee performance appraisals.
Advanced knowledge and extensive experience in the application of safety, federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations to evaluate work hazards to ensure public, workers, and environment are protected from adverse consequences.
Advanced knowledge of the standards, procedures and techniques related to coordination/facilities management.
Proficiency in using personal computers and related software (e.g., Microsoft Office) for job tracking, scheduling, and reporting of metrics.
Advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of technical, administrative, and management personnel and maintain collaborative work relationships with clients, subcontractors, management, and shop personnel.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California driver’s license and ability to work scheduled and emergency work, including off-hours, on-call rotation, and be able to work all shifts and in all buildings and areas of the Laboratory.
Qualification We Desire
Experience working in a nuclear or sensitive or limited-access facility.
Experience in collaborating, receiving direction, leading, and participating in operation-based teams (i.e., military, large-scale manufacturing, petroleum/chemical production, electrical power plant experience) applied to a wide variety of industrial systems and equipment with a focus on disciplined operations concepts and practices.

Site 300
Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).
Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
Pre-Employment Drug Test
