Core Duties and Responsibilities:Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the MA Curriculum FrameworksCheck in daily with supervisor for coverage assignmentsSupport classroom teachers with instruction during the school dayCover classes when lead teachers are absentComplete regularly scheduled duties and assignments outside of the classroomFollow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participateAssign classwork and homework as necessary and according to teachers' instructionsModify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various studentsMaintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environmentSupervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria as neededDemonstrates support and knowledge of school's goals and missionIs detail oriented when tracking students' grades, attendance, and other student dataWorks with the Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure teaching methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standardsPerforms assigned dutiesDesired Skills and Characteristics of a LHS teacher/staff:Driving desire to disrupt inequity and improve outcomes for all studentsCommitment to the academic and personal success of Lawrence Public Schools’ students and familiesProven experience supporting English Language LearnersAbility to take initiative and succeed in a fast-paced school environment while remaining calm and focused when faced with unexpected challengesDemonstrated capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected and utilized.Will to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedbackHumility and a good sense of humor
