Summary: Supervises all infection control activities. Maintains daily surveillance of patients, unit and laboratory data. The infection control coordinator is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and healthcare associated infections, along with The Joint Commission standards, and federal and state regulations. Is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections among patients and personnel. By authority of the infection prevention committee, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions, develops and implements hospital wide policies and procedures, and collaborates with the antibiotic stewardship program. Is responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and control.
Education: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing; a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required, and licensed in the state of Arkansas as an R.N.
Experience: Must have 3 to 5 years of recent clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings. Must demonstrate leadership skills and teaching abilities, be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate ability to establish good rapport and working relationships with facility personnel.
