Position Summary

To provide regular administrative and clerical support to the Spiritual Care Director of LCHC. The Spiritual Care Intern will be expected to attend on and off-site work events, create devotional content, arrange travel/correspondence, and schedule meetings for the Spiritual Care Director. This internship offers an opportunity to integrate theological knowledge, pastoral skills, and spiritual formation in a practical faith-based healthcare setting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Pastoral Counseling Training: Offer compassionate listening, emotional support, and spiritual guidance to individuals experiencing various life challenges, including grief, illness, relationship issues, spiritual crises, etc...
2. Prayer and Worship: Assist the Spiritual Care Director with facilitating care team prayer sessions, all-staff worship services, and First Friday workshops.

1. Community Outreach: Collaborate with churches, faith-based organizations, and community groups to provide spiritual care, organize outreach events, and foster community engagement.
2. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of spiritual care interventions, progress notes, and staff interactions in compliance with organizational policies and confidentiality standards.
3. Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical principles, confidentiality guidelines, and professional standards of conduct in all interactions with LCHC patients, staff members, and community stakeholders.

Required Skills or Abilities 

1. Mission-driven and ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in diverse settings, including hospitals and senior care facilities. Ability to manage emotions and present professionally at all times.
2. Excellent communication both verbal and written, leadership, and networking skills, along with demonstrated resilience and creativity.
3. Discretion, attention to detail, quick thinking, and decisiveness.
4. Requires experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural and healthcare setting.
5. Excellent MS Office Skills including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Required Knowledge & Experience

1. Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed a theological or pastoral studies program from an accredited institution.
2. Compassionate Care: Possess strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals in their spiritual journey.
3. Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for diverse spiritual beliefs, cultural backgrounds, and individual differences, with a commitment to inclusive and affirming care.
4. Supervision: Willingness to participate in regular supervision, mentorship, or peer support to enhance clinical skills and spiritual competence.
