Lawman is Hiring a Design Build Drafter Near Sackets Harbor, NY

The Design-Build Drafter will use an architect’s specifications and client’s expectations to create detailed drawings for buildings and structures, which will be professionally reviewed and certified externally.

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and interiors from client’s expectations.
Prepares preliminary construction drawings for internal use and client presentations.
Prepares constructions drawings to be reviewed and stamped by an external architect/ engineering firm.
Prepares detailed 3-dimensional renderings and isographic drawings for customer presentations.
Studies building codes and regulations and determines how they will affect architectural designs.
Coordinates with internal Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing Divisions and external partners on preparing and maintaining MEP drawings.
Draws plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers, architects, and designers.
Maintains knowledge of Butler building materials and systems for building designs.
Visits jobsites to gather data needed to complete designs.
Attends client meetings to assist in creation of building and interior designs.
Working with an architect generates cost estimates, contracts, and other documents required for individual projects.

Competencies:

Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
Numeracy skills
Attention to details.
Extensive knowledge of CAD software and other architectural drafting tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment:

This position operates from various jobsite locations, offices, and jobsite trailers.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Prolonged periods of standing on hard surfaces.
Ability to bend, climb, pull, push, balance, kneel, twist, and climb stairs and ladders.

Position Type/ Hours:

Normal business hours are 8:00AM-5:00PM. Hours may vary to be project specific and dependent upon job site location.

Travel Requirements:

Must be available to travel domestically with overnight stays for business purposes when necessary. A valid driver’s license is required for this role.

Required Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in Architectural Technology, or a related field required.
5 years of related experience in the construction or architectural industry.
Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD

Additional Qualifications:

Experience with Autodesk Revit, or other related BIM software.
