Trust and Estate Paralegal Position

Boutique trusts and estates law firm is seeking a trust administration and probate paralegal to join growing practice. Firm is located in Torrance, California.

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience with probate and trust administrations.
• Must meet the education/experience requirements set forth in BPC 6450(c).

Position Summary

A quickly growing boutique law firm is seeking an experienced probate paralegal to assist with expanding practice. The firm provides a collegial environment and works to make sure that the environment fosters growth in its employees.

You would work with a highly trained and experienced attorney in handling high-end probate and trust administrations. Must be a team player and a person who desires to excel and improve his or her skill set in the area.

Must maintain positive contact with attorneys (both the firm's and outside counsel), clients and vendors. Observes confidentiality of client and firm matters.

This position is not limited to the functions and skills listed on this description and responsibilities may be revised as needed.

Essential Functions

• Excellent organizational, writing, and proofreading skills;
• Ability to track and meet deadlines;
• Highly motivated and a self-starter;
• Ability to interact well with attorneys, staff and clients;
• Computer literate, able to organize electronic files, data rooms and the like;
• Experience with or willing to learn Excel;
• Experience in handling and organizing probate and trust administrations;
• Experience with or willing to learn preparation of gift and estate tax returns;
• Experience with or willing to learn preparation of fiduciary accountings;
• Experience with common estate planning documents such as various types of wills and trusts;
• Experience in handling basic real estate transactions;
• Basic experience with corporate documents; and
• Assistance in helping our a quickly growing law firm.

Requirements

Education: Paralegal certificate required.

Experience: Paralegal with at least 2 years of probate and trust legal experience needed.

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to organize and prioritize issues and workload. The ability to work on projects independently or with little supervision. Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities. Exercising independent judgment and initiative.
