Relief Peer Support Specialist

Using behavioral health evidence-based practices, we effectively address several social determinants of health, such as housing, employment, and education. Our efforts are focused on supporting those in our community who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness and require intensive community support. We provide housing resources such as rental subsidies, housing navigation services, and permanent supportive housing (PSH). A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RELIEF PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

In this peer support position, you provide individual and group services to individuals who need support to effectively manage mental health symptoms. You focus on assisting others with implementing coping skills, developing social supports, and assist in the removal of barriers to personal recovery goals. Because a sense of belonging is essential for individuals to be able to work towards other goals, that is always your priority.

You assist clients by modeling coping or self-soothing strategies, developing recovery action plans, learning independent living skills, and accessing community resources. Conscientiously, you support each client's progress towards their own personal recovery goals. Making a difference one life at a time fills you with a deep sense of satisfaction, which is why you're perfect in this social services role!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RELIEF PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

This peer support position must be registered with Oregon's Traditional Health Worker Registry as a peer support specialist (PSS).

Additionally, candidates are required to fulfill requirements set by the Laurel Hill Center, including:

  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening upon hire
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A RELIEF PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

This on-call behavioral health position has a variable schedule and location. Each shift will be in a single location.
