Job Title: C Software Engineer

Job Location: Centreville, VA

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire 

Job Summary: As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing high-quality software solutions using the C programming language. You will work closely with a team of software developers, engineers, and designers to design, implement, test, and maintain software applications that meet the needs of our organization or clients. Your role will require a deep understanding of C and its associated libraries and frameworks, as well as strong problem-solving skills to address complex software development challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Software Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient C code to develop software applications and systems, following best practices and coding standards.

  2. Design and Architecture: Collaborate with software architects and designers to create software solutions that meet functional and performance requirements.

  3. Code Review: Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and knowledge sharing within the development team.

  4. Testing: Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure the reliability and stability of software applications.

  5. Performance Optimization: Identify and address bottlenecks and performance issues in existing code to improve software efficiency.

  6. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, API documentation, and user manuals.

  7. Version Control: Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage source code and collaborate with other team members effectively.

  8. Troubleshooting and Debugging: Analyze and resolve software defects, issues, and bugs in a timely manner.

  9. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest developments in C and related technologies to improve skills and stay current with industry trends.

  10. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, QA engineers, and UI/UX designers, to deliver high-quality software products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C programming language, including knowledge of C 11 or later standards.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with software development tools, such as integrated development environments (IDEs), debuggers, and build systems.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Knowledge of software testing and debugging techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
