SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting the food service activities of each kitchen throughout the district; providing assistance to the Warehouse Supervisor and delivery drivers, maintaining required inventory levels, ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct, verifies stock and identifies losses, maintains an organized warehouse layout, processes purchase orders, load and unload freight, maintain records, and manage all returns.

- Responsible for receiving all food and non-food items for the Nutrition Services program. Uses food safety procedures in receiving high volume orders from distributors and direct from manufacturers. Ensures specifications, quantity and quality of deliveries are correct.

- Organizes and maintains warehouse stock ensuring quality and food safety. Uses First In First Out (FIFO) rotation of stock methods. Participates in physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.

- Prepares kitchen orders by pulling from stock for the purpose of meeting food delivery requirements. Research discrepancies on orders and/or invoices (e.g. overages, shortages, duplicate deliveries, inferior quality, etc.) for the purpose of correcting errors and/or returning damaged/incorrect items to vendors. Helps drivers for add-on order fulfillment and returns.

- Operates warehouse equipment (e.g. forklift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.) for the purpose of moving large and heavy items safely and effectively.

- Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. purchase orders, pick lists, goods receipts, par orders, fixed asset records, inventory, returns, electronic delivery logs, incoming freight shipments, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, and providing materials and reliable resource information.

- Performs general upkeep and cleaning of the warehouse as needed including but not limited to sweeping, ice removal, snow removal, dusting, clean up spills, stacking pallets, loading dock upkeep, etc. Delivers a variety of items in the absence of the drivers (e.g. groceries, food items, etc.) for the purpose of distributing items to assigned locations and/or individuals. Drives vehicles (e.g. truck, forklift, etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated sites. Uses tools to assemble minor equipment and small wares.

- Attends in-service training and workshops for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions. Complies with all policies and regulations (e.g. USDA, HACCP, Health Department, District, etc.) to ensure food safety, and the effective and efficient use of district resources.

- Coordinates driver staffing needs due to absences or special deliveries. Contacts substitute drivers to fill in during absences.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:High school diploma, or equivalent, required
1-3 year’s warehouse experience, preferred
1-3 year’s food handling experience, preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid Driver’s License, required
ServSafe Manager Certification, required within 1 year of hire

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:Operating knowledge of forklifts, and powered pallet jacks preferred, but not required. Functional knowledge required within 1 month of entering position
