Job Description
Position Title: Manager, Payroll
Reports To: Director, Payroll
Department: Payroll
Primary Location: Corporate Headquarters in Monterey, CA
Additional Locations: US Oregon (Remote), US Pennsylvania (Remote), US TX El Paso
Status: Salary
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Payroll, the Payroll Manager is responsible for carrying out the responsibility for the preparation/processing of payrolls as well as time and attendance; garnishments; tax reporting and compliance; reporting; and payroll systems maintenance. The position also trains, supervises, and manages payroll staff to ensure that high quality and timely service is provided to employees and others.
Responsibilities and Required Skills
  • Acts as functional lead in applications that include Workday payroll; ADP payroll and tax; garnishments; time and attendance; and other systems related to payroll processing.
  • Manages all aspects of payroll and payroll tax delivery and ensures that pay is processed in compliance with Federal, state, and local laws.
  • Oversees the reconciliation of all payrolls.
  • Coordinates quarterly and year-end tax returns with ADP.
  • Responds to requests from employees, management, as well as internal and external auditors.
  • Monitors internal controls to ensure they meet control objectives and ensure that they are being followed by subordinate staff.
  • Certifies that all payroll processes are SOX compliant.
  • Processes a thorough understanding of supervisory principles including hiring, scheduling, direction, development, and managing others.
  • Maintains a strong work ethic, a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Support LLTS’ Quality Management System (QMS) to continually improve the Division’s processes, procedures, and services; and thereby increase efficiency, productivity, effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field required.
  • Requires 5 years or more of Payroll experience as a payroll analyst, supervisor, or manager or related experience.
  • Member of the American Payroll Association and credentialed as a Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
  • Proficiency in HCM software including Workday and ADP as well as Microsoft Office and other systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, attention-to-detail; problem solving skills.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations. Experience and education refers to LanguageLine Solutions’ current salary range for this position. Monterey Headquarters and California (Remote), $112,500.00, Oregon (Remote), $100,000.00 - $105,000.00, Pennsylvania (Remote), $95,000.00 - $100,000.00, Texas El Paso, $95,000.00 - $105,00.00.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
