At Landscape By Design we are designers and craftsmen. Our landscapes are exceptional, beautiful, high-end residential projects, most often in northeast Utah County. We are seeking additional craftsmen to become members of our team to help us build these landscapes. Design experience is not required for a craftsman position. Speaking Spanish and English both are valuable assets to us, but not imperative.

Any experience in landscape construction or general construction is valued. We have found that a person who has hands-on experience in landscaping, cabinetry, framing, plumbing, masonry, excavation, etc. is better prepared to be a landscape craftsman than someone who doesn’t have that experience. Someone with no experience can expect to start around $15 - $17 per hour. Someone with years of experience and who can safely operate heavy equipment, pull trailers, and read plans, could expect to start around $17 - $20 per hour. If that person has years of experience leading a crew and managing subcontractors, they could start between $20 - $28 per hour.

With experience, wages go up. Annual pay raises should be expected for someone who works hard and is reliable and honest. We feel that positive and frequent communication is critical to our success within our company and among our clients.

Landscape crew members will be involved in landscape construction of high-end residential landscapes. This may include trenching, grading, irrigation work, planting, low-voltage lighting installation, retaining walls, operation of skid steer and/or mini-excavator, and other tasks involved in landscape construction.

Some years there is an off-season during the Winter for somewhere between 4-10 weeks when weather conditions may not permit our continued work. Some years we can work through the Winter and others we cannot depending on weather and the type of work on our schedule. For this reason we prefer for you to be paid a salary all year so that you continue to receive a standard paycheck during the Winter even if we are not working. If we continue to work through the winter then you receive both paychecks you have earned.

Our typical summer schedule is around 7 or 8 a.m. (depending on daylight) until 5 or 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and half days on Friday. The following are traits we value most in a team member: honesty, respectfulness, punctuality, positivity, work ethic, pertinent skills, and desire to learn and develop oneself. A person that cannot get themselves to work everyday (and on time), or would consider drugs, alcohol, or smoking on site should not consider working for us.
