Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Inc. seeks a case worker in its Western Regional Office located in Alton, Illinois, to
work with attorneys to help clients facing complex barriers to safety and stability in their lives. Land of Lincoln
Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals in 65 counties in Illinois. We are committed
to working for justice with those whose voices might otherwise not be heard; to empower individuals to advocate
for themselves; and to make positive changes in the communities we serve. Land of Lincoln Legal Aid provides
holistic legal advocacy in partnership with community organizations, social service agencies, and faith-based
groups.
The case worker will provide direct services to clients who are facing legal problems such as, but not limited to:
eviction, domestic violence, and clearing criminal records. In partnership with program attorneys and other staff,
the case worker will identify and address services needed to resolve legal matters. The case worker will be
supervised by the Managing Attorney and the Client Support Services Manager and will be part of the Client
Support Services Program. The position also requires active participation in regular staff meetings, data
collection, and program development activities as needed.
Responsibilities include:
Work in an interprofessional legal team to develop strategies and case management goals for clients
Provide holistic case management to diverse population of clients to increase success in legal matters and
across life areas
Assist clients in overcoming barriers through conducting home visits, attending court dates, and other
community-based activities as appropriate
Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies and coordinate with agencies to ensure client stability
Maintain community resource library
Actively participate in community outreach and education
Build relationships with community partners
Contribute to organizational culture of client-centered and trauma-aware practice
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field
Strong commitment to social and racial justice
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with people of diverse social, economic, and
racial/ethnic backgrounds
Attention to detail, as well as excellent verbal, interpersonal, analytical, writing, and organization skills
Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Special Working Conditions and Demands:
Applicants must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and car insurance
Compensation:
$48,500 depending on experience and education. Excellent insurance and retirement benefits; excellent leave
benefits. Land of Lincoln is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit and is an eligible employer for the public service loan
forgiveness program.
