Description

Position Title: Graduate Assistant

Department: Student Affairs

Reports To: Associate Dean or designee

Status: Graduate Assistant (part-time, 10-month)

Contract Dates: August 1, 2024 – May 10, 2025

Hours per Week: 20-25

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, daily with flexible hours for night and weekend responsibilities

Compensation: $9,500 stipend and full LBC I Capital graduate tuition waiver (does not include books and fees) 

Eligibility for a Graduate Assistantship

  1. The student is enrolled in an LBC | Capital graduate program.
  2. For a 4 1 student bachelor’s or master’s program, they must earn over 129 credits prior to the

start of the graduate assistantship.

  1. For a full-time (15-20-hour per week) assistantship, the student is to successfully maintain a

minimum academic level course load for full-time student enrollment status per semester (see

chart below).

  1. For a half-time (5-14-hour per week) assistantship, the student is to successfully maintain a

minimum course load for half-time student enrollment status per semester (see chart below).

  1. The student is to be in good academic standing.

Education and Experience: Bachelor degree or credits required. Acceptance and enrollment into an LBC graduate program must be completed by the position starting date. 

Additional Qualifications: Must have a demonstrated personal and active Biblical faith commitment. Demonstrate proficient leadership, collaboration, communication, adaptability, organization, problem-solving, and administrative skills. Possess a high awareness of emotional intelligence and sensitivity to effectively serve students from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives. 

Summary Description: The Student Affairs Graduate Assistant serves to support the mission of Lancaster Bible College and Student Affairs. This position will provide broad, general support for administration of the Student Affairs Office. Specifically, this will include event support, leadership development, office administration and service to students and parents. The GA will gain an overall understanding of Student Affairs with the opportunity to research independently an area of interest each semester related to Student Development.

May require work on evenings and weekends to support the Student Affairs team members.  

General Expectations

  • Support the mission and vision of the College and Student Affairs.
  • Maintain eligibility for the Graduate Assistantship program.
  • Participate in a local church community.
  • Positively engage with LBC students.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support Weekend of Welcome administration, execution, scheduling and communication. 
  • Utilize housing software (StarRez) and student information systems (CampusVue) to assist with the student housing selection and processes. 
  • Provide front line desk coverage for the Student Affairs Office, answering student and parent questions, and representing Student Affairs in a positive and approachable manner. 
  • Review upcoming events and create weekly content for the Up Close, chapel announcements or other Student Affairs communication, utilizing Canva and Powerpoint as needed.
  • Provide support for financial reconciliation, including VISA and Quicken processes.
  • Independently research topics related to Student Development, Conduct, Community Life to benefit the Student Affairs area and report on research findings.
  • Assist with LeadNow set up for Summits and other set up needs within the department.
  • Help to print or assemble materials needed for general needs.
  • Promptly attend team meetings and report regularly to the SA supervisor.
  • Participate in College events as requested, providing support as needed, which could include WOW, student activities, intramurals, SGA and other Student Affairs events throughout the year.
  • Attend chapel at least one time each week and support chapel needs related to Student Affairs.
  • Pick up or purchase supplies and run errands on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

Other Expectations

  • Graduate Assistants wishing to seek additional employment must receive approval from the Associate Dean.
  • Graduate Assistants should schedule personal appointments and events around their work and graduate school schedules.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift items and carry up to 50lbs as needed. Maintain a valid driver’s license.

All Graduate Assistants must sign the statement of faith as provided by the Human Resources office.
