Lancaster Bible College is Hiring a Director of BSW Program Near Lancaster, PA

Job Summary:

This position exists for providing classroom instruction, development of a quality, accredited BSW program, lead the 4-year accreditation process and review, provide oversight of the academic program and academic advisement in the Social Work program. This position will supervise Social Work Program faculty.


Department:
Counseling and Social Work

Reports to: Academic Dean for Education, Counseling, and Social Work


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited institution
  • Doctoral degree in Social Work preferred
  • Five years of experience in post-MSW direct practice
  • Three years’ experience teaching at the collegiate level
  • LCSW is preferred
  • Experience with CSWE accreditation process is preferred

  • Actively pursue avenues for contributing to the profession of Social Work through activities such as publication, presentation or community engagement.
  • Proficiency with word processing, general computer skills, and LBC | Capital’s instructional technologies (i.e., Learning Management System, Video Conferencing, etc.)


Technical Abilities:

  • Diligence in budgeting skills such that you can assist the Dean in the preparation and submission of department budgets
  • Continue to research ways in which the different areas of the academic program can be enhanced
  • Continued use of analytic skills for analyzing academic trends and developments
  • Maintaining awareness of the various laws and ethical standards for academia and their relationship to the college
  • Effective knowledge and application of word processing and presentation platforms.
  • Experience with and practical knowledge of online course delivery platforms.
  • Ongoing use of effective communication skills necessary for tasks.
  • Continue to widen experience with and practical knowledge of online course delivery platforms.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Instructional Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to instruct methodologies, research and practice courses within the Social Work program.
  • Advisement of students in the Social Work program
  • Assist in recruiting students for the Social Work program.
  • Willingness to design and develop new courses to enhance the existing curriculum.
  • Utilization of online learning platforms for instructional delivery.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Academic Dean for Education, Counseling, and Social Work.
  • Assist the Dean as needed.
  • Supervise the Field Director and other Social Work Program faculty.
  • Assist the Field Director in the oversight of the Field Education component of the Program.
  • Revise and edit the Social Work Program handbook.
  • Review and revise curricular offerings to meet current CSWE and industry expectations and standards.
  • Initiate CSWE accreditation process and maintain program accreditation including data collection and analysis
  • Develop and oversee program budgetary needs along with the Academic Dean.
  • Oversight of continuous program improvement in areas of library holdings, expert speakers, community collaborations, and opportunities for student involvement.
  • Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed.
  • Continued demonstration of ability and willingness to function fully and cooperatively within an institution of Biblical Christian higher education
  • Continued ability to function as a team member with the administration of the college.
  • Ongoing demonstrated desire to grow, develop, and mature as characterized by achievement in both personal and organizational matters.
  • Continued ability to implement fairly and firmly the policies and procedures of the college.
  • Continue to maintain absolute confidentiality in handling all matters within the college.

Job Tasks – to determine specific tasks required of the position

  • Teach Social Work courses in the CSW Department at a rate of 9 credits in the Fall term and 9 credits in the Spring term.
  • Serve as Director of the BSW program for which you will receive 3 credits of remuneration for the Fall term and 3 credits for the Spring Term.
  • Maintain visible on-the-ground leadership in and curation of the BSW program.
  • Personally update courses each semester (e.g. syllabi and Learning Management System) to maintain content to industry (and internal) standards (with dept. approval).
  • Manage the BSW curriculum by participating in the rostering of courses at least six months ahead each term, after receiving dept. approval.
  • Revise and maintain the BSW student handbook after receiving appropriate approvals.
  • Attend and participate in the departmental faculty meetings and assigned subcommittees.
  • Attend chapel services regularly.
  • Facilitate spiritual, emotional, and academic shepherding of students.
  • Develop professionally through personal study, research, and attendance professional meetings.
  • Seek to publish on a regular basis, (as professional time allows). This could be in various forms including journal or magazine articles and books.
  • Ongoing openness to other tasks as assigned for the enhancement of students and academic programming.
  • Curate program design, professional development, evaluation of faculty, outcomes assessment, and academic policy.
  • Be involved in the programs to attract prospective students to the BSW and other CSW Dept. programs
  • Teach courses as assigned at the undergraduate, adult education, and/or graduate level in face-to-face, blended, and online formats which may require teaching during the day, evening, and/or weekend.
  • Collaborate with LBC | Capital recruitment teams as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
