What You'll Do
The chief strategy officer (CSO) is the corporate executive overseeing a company's business strategy and processes. As the leader of strategic planning processes, the CSO is involved in business development, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, divestments, branching into new businesses, and refining the company's core business. The CSO drives futuristic and strategic visioning, thinking, and planning, including business development, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, advocacy on a national and community level, and branching into new businesses. The CSO is responsible for co-creating a company's vision, facilitating alignment on strategic initiatives, communicating the plan with all involved, executing the business initiatives, and sustaining implementation efforts. The CSO goes beyond strategic planning and has the presence and influence to make strategy happen. Responsibilities include:
·Market Analysis: Perpetually assessing the business landscape for short-term and long-term corporate development opportunities.
·Risk Assessment: Examines strategic risks and advises the leadership team and board of directors about those risks.
·Strategic Vision:
oHelps craft and drive a company’s strategic vision and plans for the brand.
oFormulates and executes the methodology needed to arrive at that shared strategic vision.
·Partnerships, Divestments, Mergers, and Acquisitions: Leads initiatives involving partnerships with other companies, oversees the divestment of any business units, the acquisition of outside businesses, or a merger with another organization.
