Lakes Gas is Hiring a Service Technician Near Jenkins, MN

Description

Lakes Gas Co. Service person's primary responsibilities include customer service, sales, the maintenance and inspection of company properties and the inspection, installation, and service of the propane containers and appliances of propane system to commercial accounts and residential homes. This is a DOT regulated position that complies with drug and alcohol policies and procedures. The position includes driving which requires the ability to obtain a class B commercial driver license with tanker and hazardous materials endorsements. Position requires a valid DOT medical examiner's card. Need to be safety conscious, have a strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills and possess good driving skills. Service person will be working in extreme weather environments and must be on-call on a rotating schedule with other DOT branch employees. Service person may assist branch locations by delivering propane to customer's accounts. Position entails pulling a deliver hose, some heavy lifting, and climbing in and out of a fuel truck. Person will be involved with customer service items such as direct customer contact, collections and maintenance projects such as paining tanks, filling cylinders and the upkeep of company vehicles, tools and plant. Need to be able to follow established company policies and procedures, along with DOT regulations, state and local laws. Must comply with NPFA Pamphlets 54 and 58. Other duties as assigned.

Bonus Terms

*You will receive $1,000 after (3) months of employment and achieving a minimum of a Class B License with Tanker and Hazardous Endorsements; After successfully completing (6) months of employment you will receive an additional $2,000. Must be employed and in good standing at the time of payout to qualify.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand English language to understand and complete task procedures, shipping papers (Purchase orders/bill of laden etc.), product labels, work orders, informational and warning signage etc.
  • Accurately perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Communicate clearly both written and verbally in the English language
  • Computer skills for maintaining client databases and product inventories, adapting to electronic data processing equipment
  • Class B commercial Driver's license with Tanker and Hazardous Materials endorsements (Willing to assist in obtaining and train person)
  • No moving violations for reckless or operating under the influence
  • Must participate in the DOT drug and alcohol program
  • Capable of working in extreme weather conditions as this is generally an outdoors position (humidity, rain, snow)
  • Physical position requiring heavy lifting/including ability to lift and maneuver full cylinders for delivery
  • ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green colored objects
  • 21 years of age for interstate commerce, 18 years of age for intrastate commerce
  • Capable of pulling a delivery hose (up to 75 pounds)
  • Ability to drive specified routes and maintain good driving habits
  • Ability to complete visual inspections of tanks and properties, inspect hoses, and piping to ensure compliance
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems to ensure emergency equipment is present and in proper working conditions
  • Deliver product to containers using required gauging devises
  • Load/reload and account for inventory
  • Ability to work with various gas related materials such as copper, brass, steel, pipe, PE pipe (polyethylene), gas regulators, and other gas distribution materials, appliances and parts.
  • Knowledge of NPFA 54 related to gas piping and appliance installation including combustion air and flue gas venting requirements.
  • Ability to detail all service work performed on company work orders in legible manner for customer review and records
  • Ability to conduct Visual Inspections and GAS (GAS Appliance Safety) checks on every tank and/or cylinder installation
  • In depth knowledge of regulator limitations, installations, performance pressures, location and qualifications related to age
  • Keen awareness of all outside customer property in relation to vehicle placement to conduct service work
  • Capable of properly routing, securing and installing gas piping, venting conduits and related gas equipment and components in professional manner
  • ability to fill, paint, repair, inspect, requalify, move maintain and inventory tanks and cylinders
  • accurately and properly document customer sales, loads, inventory, vehicle status, delivery hours, and the closing turn in procedure of documents and payments
  • Customer service duties such as pumping out tanks, removing and moving tanks, performing Outside Equipment Inspections at customer locations, burying gas lines, help set and install tanks and meters.
