Position Summary

Must effectively interact with patients, families and other health team members. Must perform a variety of clerical duties, admitting/discharging and transfer of patients within the electronic system, scheduling/coordinating work within department and with other departments, providing receptionist duties, maintaining/ordering department supplies, reporting pertinent information to supervisors, and responding to inquiries and requests for information.

Standard Work Duties: Health Unit Coordinator
  • Processes information for new admissions and transfers accurately to expedite patient throughput
  • . Perform Clerical/Receptionist duties to reflect strong customer service to our patients, families and team members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and technology necessary to complete duties and responsibilities for effective throughput and patient safety.
  • Processes information for discharges to ensure a safe and efficient discharge
  • Promotes stewardship by maintaining appropriate par levels for supplies needed on the clinical unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of environment of care regulatory requirements for the clinical setting.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, confidentiality and privacy, adheres to HIPAA standards

Nonessential:
  • Successful completion of Health Unit Coordinator program or related clinical or medical support experience
