Lake Union Hot Tub Boats is Hiring a General Manager (FT) Near Seattle, WA

Do you love small business, overseeing a stellar team, and working on and near the water? We are a family business operating wood-fired hot tub boat rentals on Lake Union all year round. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences for people to enjoy Lake Union. We are looking for an experienced manager to join our team and help grow the business.

Responsibilities:
Management
  • Manage a team of ~10 staff, including maintenance and customer service team members
  • Conduct staffing and inventory forecasting to make sure we have sufficient staff, as well as sufficient availability of trips – this is done weekly as well as seasonally given the nature of our business
  • Oversee maintenance team to ensure we have all boats in working order and any other maintenance projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Create weekly KPI reports to share with owners and team (as relevant)
  • Collaborate with owners on areas of strategy and planning, making recommendations regarding staffing, operations, and growth
Staffing 
  • Work with Assistant GM to create and maintain team schedule, ensuring sufficient levels of staffing at all times
  • Hire, fire, onboard and off-board
  • Support staff development, conduct performance reviews and probations
  • Complete payroll
Operations
  • Manage online inventory, maximizing available staff, busy periods, and holiday weekends
  • Track delivery and status of essential items (e.g., propane and bottled water) and procure when necessary
  • Assist Head of Maintenance in trouble-shooting complex maintenance issues and assist in procuring parts and making repairs
  • Follow up with Team Leads to make sure supplies and essentials are ordered and in stock 
Personnel
  • Provide quality control to ensure highest level of customer service is being provided and all procedures are uniformly and consistently followed
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Team Leads (and Maintenance Head as relevant) to track action items, ensure accountability, and seek feedback
  • Conduct monthly all-staff meetings to update the team on progress, pain points, and seek feedback
  • Train Shift Leads and oversee quality of training of Crew Members
Required education
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management or related field preferred
Required skills and qualifications
  • Proven success in a managerial role
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
  • Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans
  • Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable
  • Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
Required experience
  • Minimum 5 years of general manager or equivalent experience
  • Experience in conducting performance evaluations
  • Working knowledge of human-resources processes
  • Familiarity/comfort being on the water, ideally with small watercraft
Schedule:
  • Thursdays – Mondays, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Compensation & benefits:
  • $90,000-$120,000/yr depending on experience
