Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) consultant

Local to Chicago – Hybrid/3 days onsite (contract)

Do you want to work within a fast-paced, challenging and very rewarding environment driving financial continuous improvements? Do you have experience with industry-standard Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) consultant principles that provide new and improved processes for unique business issues and opportunities? This need is driven for greater specificity and accuracy with accruing expected, but unrealized, spend and interdepartmental chargebacks and better categorizing applied entries. The FP&A consultant will work with our client’s leaders and vendors, in addition to the Finance team. You are responsible to provide accurate, timely, and data-based information on organization’s financial budget, chargebacks and reconciliation of invoices and charges, and review contract actuals and variances in the context of the overall budget position. This role will also provide research and analyze the department’s financial information and act as an internal consultant to the department managers for financial related questions.

1. Can you develop or augment processes to:
2. Maintain accurate and updated catalog of SOWs, contracts, service offerings and market elections of which services are deployed for those markets.
3. Track interdepartmental charges and model recurring and/or forecasted charges.
4. Monitor and reclassify posted charges.
5. Collect and summarize data to develop established financial reports on a timely basis and provide areas of improvement to further streamline data collection, reporting and accuracy of information.
6. Maintain accurate status of YTD budget expectations, actual expenditures, anticipated accruals. Identify and communicate variances against budget and actual providing detailed information for management review and root cause analysis.
7. Conduct reviews of chargebacks and vendor invoices and provide a reconciliation report identifying variances.
8. Can you execute and operate the processes identified above with additional resource support?
9. Can you provide advice to department leaders and make recommendations to management to improve the financial performance of the organization?

The Expertise You Have

1. 5-8 years of relevant experience in Financial Planning and Analysis.
2. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
3. An in-depth understanding of financial systems and processes and demonstrated success in a financial organization with cross-functional collaboration.
4. Bachelor’s degree.
