Lake Nona Wave Hotel is Hiring an Area Accounting Manager Near Orlando, FL

Overview:

The Area Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department. In this role you will manage the accounting team who is responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. You will recruit and hire accounting and financial staff and conduct performance evaluations among several other job functions.

Responsibilities:
  • The Area Accounting Manager will assist with the compilation and preparation of the financial statement, periodic forecasts, and annual budget to provide support to the Accounting Department.
  • Review the daily list of revenue activity to ensure accountability of activity, adjustments, tax liability, and general ledger coding and posting monthly into the general ledger.
  • Compile, in conjunction with the Centralized Controller, all financial statements covering all activities of the hotels and the maintenance of all budget control procedures.
  • Compile daily, weekly, and quarterly reports.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of department meetings and counseling sessions.
  • Verifies the accuracy and timeliness of all finance functions: daily and month end reporting payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash and credit card management.
  • Ensure that all administrative procedures are in place and functioning effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with property policies and procedures and all applicable laws.
  • Ensure that accounting practices adhere to legal requirements and standards, including preparing and filing of tax and license information.
  • Assess a list of daily revenue activity to ensure accountability, balance general ledger accounts, and fix any discrepancies or problematic accounts.
  • Conduct monthly payroll audits and cross train to transmit payroll.
  • Analyze all statements, balance sheets, income, and expense accounts to guarantee accuracy and recommend adjustments that would increase profitability.
  • Supervise and assist to track and record all accounts receivable accurately, while also supporting the AP specialist to generate and manage accounts payable invoicing.
  • Support the daily accounting operations with the creation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Manage financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts, and financial assets.
  • Handle transactions and debts and do cash flow forecasting.
  • Perform financial audits.
  • Send daily labor reports to provide overview for departments and highlight any variances including misuse or excessive lunch violations.
  • Assist with the month end process including but not limited to the Food and Beverage inventories, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Create financial reports based on data analysis.
  • Make financial recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Present recommendations to management on short & long term financial objectives and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary/assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Five years of experience in hotel accounting, preferably in a full-service hotel required.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • Must be well-versed in accounting principles.
  • Exemplary communication skills, math skills, strong leadership skills, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
  • Advanced knowledgeable of payroll, a strong leader and a proven track record in guest and team member engagement and financial performance.
  • Is flexible and willing to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
