Job Summary:
Works with students in the Start to Finish program to facilitate student success.
Essential Functions:
1. Facilitates student referrals and the transition of students, both within and outside the institution.
2. Monitors student progress utilizing a case management system and generates reports.
3. Participates in staff development and in-service training.
4. Works closely with Benton Harbor Promise Zone students on the application of Learning to Learn principles in various courses in an effort to assist in increasing G.P.A., completion rate, retention, persistence and overall student success.
5. Facilitates the assessment and application of proper learning/study skills to current student coursework and assignments.
6. Creates examples and suggestions for LTL or academic skill use.
7. Collaborates with LMC faculty and staff to improve Learning Lab practices and procedures, and enhance Start to Finish interventions.
8. Ensures students continue to apply what they learned in CLS 103 to other courses.
9. Helps program students prepare for Accuplacer placement testing.
10. Reports departmental data for program improvement and advocacy.
11. Maintains an academic assistance calendar to provide academic services as needed.
Other Duties:
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
Under the general supervision of the Director, Start To Finish, is accountable for facilitating student needs within the program.
Job Specifications:
Bachelors degree required; in Education, Human Services, Business or related field preferred. At least one year of experience in providing educational and/or mentoring services involving at-risk individuals required. Experience working with volunteers preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented.
