Job Summary:
Responsible for providing laboratory skill support within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Work with Sonography faculty to determine the most appropriate skills presentation and hands-on learning experiences to meet course objectives and expectations in the Sonography profession.
Essential Functions:
1. Provides laboratory support and expertise to the Sonography faculty in the management of hands-on laboratory learning techniques and scenarios.2. Collaborates with Sonography faculty in the planning, preparation, and implementation of sonographic skills and exercises.3. In collaboration with the Sonography faculty, ensures lab safety, cleanliness, and organization.4. Prepares required sonographic skill materials and equipment to support the learning environment.5. Keeps inventory of sonography supplies.6. Supports safe clinical lab practices according to OSHA guidelines.
Other Duties:
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences, the Sonography Lab Support Specialist is responsible for assisting faculty and providing professional expertise and support for the learning activities in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Supports specific course/program curricula requirements as mandated by the educational mission and goals of the Health Sciences Department and the College
Job Specifications:
Associate degree in a health-related field required. Must be registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS) in general and obstetrical/gynecology specialties. At least 6 months experience as diagnostic sonographer required. Must possess working knowledge of subject matter and maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities. Good organizational skills and strong communication skills required.
