Lake Glass & Mirror is Hiring a Residential Glazier/Installer Near Leesburg, FL

As a Residential Glazier/Lead Installer at Lake Glass & Mirror, Inc., you will be responsible for measuring, fabricating, and installing glass to meet our client’s specifications while adhering to safety regulations and industry standards. You will need to be very familiar with various types of glass and the techniques used to install them. The role of the glazier is physically demanding, so you should be fit enough to carry large objects and capable of spending most of the day working on your feet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential glazing and knowledge of all glazing systems. They will have a professional appearance and mannerisms, be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to work as a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Measure and cut glass to ensure it meets the client’s specifications
  • Install the glass where it’s needed, using caution to ensure that the installation lasts for as long as possible
  • Load and unload glass panels as dictated by project needs
  • Remove old pieces of glass from doors, windows, and displays using safety precautions to ensure no one gets injured
  • Be punctual to all appointments and communicate directly with the client before the appointment time when you can’t
  • Communicate with the client to ensure they understand what you are doing and the next steps of the process
  • Follow all company processes, policies, and procedures
  • Take measures to protect the clients’ property and belongings
  • Site Evaluation: Visiting residential properties to assess the condition and requirements of the glass installation. This involves examining the existing structures, identifying any potential challenges, and making sure they correspond to the details given by the Measurement Technician
  • Select appropriate tools for each job based on the type of material being installed, the degree of accuracy required, and other factors
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and vehicle
  • Maintain professional and courteous behavior toward clients, contractors, and other team members
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, team members, and other professionals involved in the project to discuss requirements, provide advice, and address any concerns. Clear communication is crucial to ensure all parties are on the same page and the installation meets the client’s requirements
  • Possess the required tools including, but not limited to, tape measure, screwdrivers of various sizes and styles, pry bar, putty knives, caulk gun, rubber mallet, hammer, dead blow, plumb and level devices, glass cutter, pliers, snips, etc.
  • Perform calibration checks on measuring and installation tools to ensure they are working properly
  • Train new employees in proper installation techniques and safety procedures
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support your assistant/apprentice glazier, ensuring team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively and projects are completed efficiently and to the required standards
  • Involved in the planning and coordinating of installation projects, including reviewing project specifications, estimating materials and labor requirements, creating work schedules, assigning tasks, and coordinating with other tradespeople or contractors involved in the project
  • Ensure the quality of the installations performed by your team, including inspecting completed work to ensure it meets or exceeds the required standards, troubleshooting any issues or defects, and implementing corrective measures as needed
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols at all times by promoting a safe work environment, conducting safety briefings, and enforcing safety procedures among the installation team
  • Assist in the development of new product offerings
  • Conduct research to stay up-to-date on advances in glazing systems and installation techniques
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Overnight travel may be required for training events and/or special projects

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8 years’ experience as a glazier
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the aptitude to learn new software and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and measuring devices
  • Physical ability to lift heavy glass panels up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Must hear and see well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Considerable amount of time using a telephone and/or computer
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead
  • Considerable amount of time making repetitive motions
  • Ability to function with frequent temperature changes between indoors and out
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
