The Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors for our summer camp programs. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and engaging experience for campers while ensuring their safety and well-being. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children, fostering teamwork, and creating memorable summer experiences.

• Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during all activities. Provide guidance and support to campers in developing positive social skills and teamwork.
• Assist in Planning and organizing age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts. Implement scheduled activities, ensuring they align with the camp's goals and values.
• Address and manage camper behavior in a positive and constructive manner. Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment for all participants. 
• Maintain open and effective communications with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Provide feedback to parents on their child's camp experience. 
• Follow and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures. Act promptly in case of emergencies and communicate effectively with appropriate personnel. 
• Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment. Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions. 
• Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and a strong work ethic. Uphold the camp's values and code of conduct. 
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other relevant information. Complete daily reports and submit necessary paperwork in a timely manner. 

• Must be at least 16 years old. 
• Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
• Enthusiastic, responsible, and committed to providing a positive camp experience for all participants. 

Schedule:
Camp Counselors are expected to work during the entire camp season, which runs from June 10th to August 9th. Mandatory camp staff training is June 10-14.
