Day in the life: Basin staff work as dockhands with the power boaters, sail boaters and sailing camps around the launch basin. Encourage patrons to experience Lake Michigan through boating. 

Summer employment: We work hard Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend

 Facility Hours: Fridays 0830 – close. Weekends 0900 – close. Employees work 35-40 hours each week.

Safety: We work hard to ensure all patrons are safe at the beach and while on Lake Michigan.

• Enforces all facility policies, rules and regulations to ensure the safety of beach patrons

• Help boat owners with launching and docking of their sailboats and motorboats

• Responds to patron concerns and inquiries in a professional manner

• Records and maintains detailed reports

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age

• Must attend and be held accountable for information presented at staff training
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Knowledge and experience of watercraft and water safety
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays
• Available from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend
• NASBLA Illinois Boater's License

Upon employment, staff must successfully complete and obtain certification in CPR and First Aid/AED. In addition, upon employment, attendants must complete and obtain certification in the US Sailing Safe Powerboat Handling & Safety and Rescue Support course.
