Closing Date: 05/21/2024 Lake Forest High School is seeking a Technical Director for the Fall Play. Description: The director supervises students during regular meetings, will organize approved events throughout the show season in order to meet the needs of the show and student tech crew. The director creates, facilitates, and manages students through meetings, events, activities and fundraisers. Responsibilities: General Duties
Maintains a variety of documents including attendance records for technical crew meetings and events, activity account budget, and field trip forms (if needed)
Holds technical crew meetings on a regular basis
Requests room space in advance for rehearsals and build events as well as makes travel arrangements in advance when necessary
Promotes and publicizes technical crew involvement via posters, fliers, announcements, or social media
Communicates and hold students accountable to a standard of expected behavior
Determines the role of technical crew students
Establishes student technical crew long-range and short-term goals
Plans accordingly for crew socials and other activities related to the crew
Maintains positive relationships with students, supports our diverse populations, and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
Facilitates student planning for crew meetings, events, and activities
Oversees the correct and responsible use of play funds
Provides supervision and safety of students, materials, equipment and facilities
Maintains and updates the play web page
Specific Duties to this Role
Designs and implements a building plan for the fall play set
Collaborates with the fall play director to bring the shared vision to life
Creates and follows a show calendar in order to ensure all set design needs are met
Oversees the student tech crew with the technical direction of the show
Provides instruction and technical support to the students using safe, industry-standard procedures
Working knowledge of sound equipment, light equipment, and various special effects
Designs lighting with student tech crew members and teaches them how to run lights during the show
Designs sound and manages microphones with student tech crew members while teaching them how to run sound during the show
Manages show budget and communicates expenditures with supervisor
Collects information from directors and students in order to create the play program, publicity announcements, and posters
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent - preferred
Ability to:
understand and follow basic oral and written instructions
maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils
communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner
Enforces school regulations and policies in a professional manner
Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner
